GEOMKIT is a 38-instrument tactile geometry kit designed to help blind and low-vision students learn, measure, and construct geometric figures through touch. Using tactile measurement markings, a magnetic working slate, and specially designed markers, students can create raised geometry diagrams directly on Braille paper.
Developed in collaboration with Vistrit Gyan, Saksham Trust, and Raised Lines Foundation, GEOMKIT offers a hands-on alternative to conventional visual geometry tools. The design was recognised with the NCPEDP–Mphasis Universal Design Award 2020 and has been used for geometric constructions from the NCERT Classes VI–X syllabus.
Key features
- Tactile markings: identify lengths, positions, and angle intervals through touch.
- Magnetic slate: provides a stable surface for positioning the geometry instruments during construction.
- Raised diagrams: use the styluses and markers to emboss lines, circles, arcs, and other geometric figures on Braille paper.
- Specialised construction tools: includes circle and arc markers, point and line markers, a ruler, protractor, set square, and frames.
- Designed for handling: marker grips and frames help position and move the tools during geometry activities.
- Complete learning set: 38 instruments, 10 Braille sheets, and a user guide are supplied in the kit.
What can students learn?
- Drawing and measuring straight lines and line segments
- Identifying and constructing angles
- Constructing triangles and exploring their properties
- Drawing and examining circles and arcs
- Marking points, intersections, and vertices
- Understanding spatial relationships through tactile diagrams
- Practising step-by-step geometric constructions on Braille paper
Measurement and construction capabilities
- Tactile ruler: measures up to 20 cm.
- Tactile protractor: supports angle construction and measurement, with markings at 5° intervals.
- Set square: supports drawing 30°, 60°, and 90° angles.
- Line markers: create embossed lines up to 15 cm and 21 cm.
- Circle markers: enable raised circles in sizes from 30 mm to 80 mm at 5 mm intervals.
- Arc markers: enable raised arcs in sizes from 85 mm to 120 mm at 5 mm intervals.
- Circle and arc frames: hold the relevant markers in position.
- Point markers: help mark points and vertices; a pickup tool assists with handling circle and arc markers.

Who is it for?
Blind and low-vision students learning geometry; mathematics teachers; special educators; inclusive schools; resource centres; and parents or tutors supporting accessible mathematics learning.
Why GEOMKIT?
Geometry often depends on diagrams that are difficult to interpret without sight. GEOMKIT makes constructions tangible: learners can position instruments, measure by touch, emboss shapes, and explore the completed diagram with their fingertips. It supports active participation in practical geometry lessons at school or at home.
