An electronic device attached to a 130 cm cane that helps detect obstacles above knee level while traveling.



The SmartCane device is an electronic travel aid designed to enhance the capabilities of a standard white cane. Easily attachable to the top fold of a regular cane, it utilizes ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles within a range of 3 meters, covering from knee to head height.

The device employs intuitive vibratory patterns to prewarn the user about the distance of the nearest detected obstacle. In addition to obstacle detection, the SmartCane serves as a valuable tool for estimating distances to objects in the user's surroundings, facilitating avoidance of physical contact with parked vehicles, individuals, animals, and other potential obstructions.

The SmartCane package includes the device itself, a charger, a user manual in clear print, and a CD containing the manual in various accessible formats and languages.
